ABOUT THE ARTISTS
     Each member of Salix brings a distinguished musical voice to the ensemble. Maurer has been praised by The Washington Post for her “probing, fiercely intelligent playing,” Parrini by The New York Times for his “smooth, luxuriant tone,” and Stoytcheva by Cultural Voice of North Carolina for her radiant palette of color, dynamics, and tone. Together, they offer performances shaped by trust, elegance, passion, and the ease that comes from years of musical friendship. ​

     Since its founding as all three members were part of the American Chamber Players, the trio has appeared on the Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York series, including its Opening Gala at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Recent and upcoming engagements include the Wooster Chamber Music Series, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music, Sanibel Music Festival, Duke University Chamber Arts Series, and Chamber Music Raleigh.

     The name Salix comes from salix babylonica, the weeping willow tree—a graceful and poetic image that reflects the ensemble’s lyrical spirit. For Chamber Music Raleigh’s Sights & Sounds on Sundays series at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Salix Piano Trio brings an afternoon of warmth, refinement, and deeply personal chamber music-making.
